2025年11月28日（金）から12月8日（月）まで、KAMAKURA meetにて、世界各地で長く愛されてきた布を用いた手仕事を手がける、中村夏実と林礼子によるユニット・textile n+Rの個展「precious fabric かけがえのない布」を開催いたします。本展では、帛紗、仕覆、袋など日本の伝統的なものを、異国のアンティーク布を用いて仕立てた作品をご紹介いたします。時を経た布が新たな命を宿し、現代の暮らしに美しく寄り添う姿をお楽しみください。皆様のご来場を心よりお待ち申し上げております。 KAMAKURA meet | Announcement of a Solo Exhibition by Textile Duo textile n+R “precious fabric” We are pleased to announce a solo exhibition by the artist duo textile n+R, titled “precious fabric” to be held at KAMAKURA meet from Friday, November 28 to Monday, December 8, 2025.

Formed by Natsumi Nakamura and Reiko Hayashi, textile n+R creates works using time-honored fabrics from around the world. This exhibition features handcrafted items such as fukusa (ceremonial cloths), shifuku (pouches), and scented sachets—pieces that reinterpret traditional Japanese forms through the lens of global textile traditions. These well-worn, storied fabrics are reborn with new life, gently enriching contemporary daily living. We look forward to welcoming you in Kamakura.

[ Message from the Artist ] かつては身近にあふれていた世界中の伝統の手仕事の布が、いまでは貴重で得難いものになろうとしています。私たち、textile n+Rは、そんなかけがえのない布を「用の布」として再生し、日々の暮らしの中に取りこむことで未来へ遺していけたらと考えています。

今回、KAMAKURA meetの展示では「異国の布で‘和’を仕立てる」をテーマに、帛紗、仕覆、袋など、日本の伝統文化の中で育まれたゆかしいものたちに仕立ててみました。畳まれて箪笥に仕舞われていた布たちが用の布として蘇り、光を放つさまを、ぜひギャラリーでご覧いただければと思います。

端切れも大切に、香りを忍ばせる小さな袋になりました。和の香りと和と洋の香りブレンドした香りの2種の袋があります。

Traditional handcrafted textiles from around the world—once an abundant part of daily life—are now becoming increasingly rare and precious. At textile n+R, we seek to breathe new life into these irreplaceable fabrics by reimagining them as "textiles for use," integrating them into everyday living and passing them on to the future.

For this exhibition at KAMAKURA meet, we have embraced the theme “Crafting Japanese Forms with Foreign Textiles.” We have reworked cherished traditional Japanese items such as fukusa (ceremonial cloths), shifuku (pouches), and other forms into pieces made from storied fabrics once folded away in drawers. Through our hands, these textiles are revived as functional objects, radiating a new brilliance. We hope you will experience their transformation at the gallery.

Fukusa and Sukiya Bags

Fabrics we encountered in various corners of the world have been transformed into fukusa and sukiya bags in a range of sizes.

From: Italy, France, India, Cambodia, Laos, Bhutan, Korea,Uzbekistan, Russia, and beyond.

Scent Sachets

Even the smallest scraps are treasured—transformed into small sachets that hold fragrance.Two varieties are available: one with traditional Japanese scents, and another blending Eastern and Western aromas.

[ About the Artist ]

textileｎ+Ｒ中村夏実と林礼子 | 布作家ユニット 本業に携わる傍ら、染織に興味を抱いていた二人が６０代にして遭遇、このユニットができました。長年の布好きが高じて、手元に集まってきた自分たちの布コレクションを持ち寄り、二人の布仕事が始まりました。生まれ育った土地の、歴史や風土や作り手の思いさえも孕んだ布たちをどう活かして形にするのか、難しいながらもいつも心弾む作業であります。

2018年工芸青花「百思百布」で初めての個展。以来、2019年麻布香雅堂、2020年minä perhonen elävä、2021年minä perhonen galleria・工芸青花、2023年小灯・minä perhonen金沢店、2024年plain peopleグループ展・曹源寺グループ展などを開催。

textile n+R | Natsumi Nakamura and Reiko Hayashi – Textile Artist Duo

Meeting in their 60s while pursuing separate professional careers, Natsumi Nakamura and Reiko Hayashi were both long fascinated by dyeing and weaving. Their shared passion for textiles led to the formation of textile n+R. Drawing from their personal fabric collections—gathered over years of loving textiles—they began working together on projects that breathe new life into old fabrics.

Their creative process involves exploring how to shape cloth imbued with the history, climate, and spirit of the places where it was made. Though often challenging, the work is always filled with joy and discovery.

In 2018, they held their debut solo exhibition “Hyakushi Hyakufu” at Kogei Seika. This was followed by exhibitions at Kogado Azabu (2019), minä perhonen elävä (2020), minä perhonen galleria and Kogei Seika (2021), Kohibari and minä perhonen Kanazawa (2023), as well as group shows at Plain People and Sogenji Temple (2024).
